Four Police cars have their windows Smashed in Burnage

Police are investigating after four police cars and a trading standards vehicle were vandalised in Burnage.

At around 7pm on Thursday 16 May 2013, officers were alerted to the fact that all the windows on the five cars had been smashed whilst they were executing a number of warrants nearby.

The cars had been parked on Broadlea Road from around 4.30pm.

Police are appealing for information and witnesses to come forward.

A 23-year-old man and a 20-year-old man have been arrested on suspicion of criminal damage and are currently in police custody for questioning.

Superintendent Wasim Chaudhry said: “This is a mindless act of vandalism which has meant four police cars are out of action and cannot be used to respond to calls from members of our community. We would urge anyone who was in the area who has any information about this to contact police urgently.”

Anyone with information should call police on 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
