All-star cast for Bolton’s next panto News Desk January 31, 2013 Bolton, Featured 1 Comment A celebrity line-up has been secured for this year’s pantomime at The Albert Halls, Bolton. Three well-known performers will top the bill for Jack and the Beanstalk, which will run from Saturday, November 30, 2013 to Sunday, January 5, 2014. Bolton panto favourite Stu Francis will make a welcome return to his local theatre, after entertaining audiences in this year’s production of Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs. Joining him on stage will be heartthrob Ben-Ryan Davies, whose recent accolades include playing Jonah Price in the BBC drama Rough Diamond and Ronan Burley in Waterloo Road. Rochdale-born Ben already has two impressive panto performances under his belt, after he played the title roles in Peter Pan (2011) and Jack and the Beanstalk (2012) in Basingstoke and Billingham respectively. Ben, who will play the role of Jack, said: “I’m chuffed to bits I’m doing panto in Bolton. It’s the first panto I’ve done in the North West and as I’m from Rochdale it means all my family can come and see it. I’m really excited about it. “I love doing panto. I started off my career doing musicals at school, so that’s how I got into acting. Then the TV roles came up. Working with Charlie last year was great – he’s hilarious!” Adding an extra touch of comedy class to the production will be the famous Charlie Cairoli Jnr, son of the Blackpool Tower Circus clown, Charlie Cairoli, who performed every summer season for 40 years. Prior to his death in 1980, Charlie Cairoli Snr was renowned for his Charlie Chaplin-style hat and red nose. His son adapted this iconic role, concentrating mostly on cabaret and panto performances. He will play the role of the King in Jack and the Beanstalk. He said: “I know Stu Francis very well and we have worked together numerous times, so I think the audience will enjoy our comedy. I might even bring along some custard pies! “I’m really looking forward to coming to Bolton and the Albert Halls. All I want is for people to walk out of the theatre afterwards and say what a great show it was. I want them to say it was absolutely brilliant and that they have never laughed as much. If they think I was brilliant as well, then that’s a bonus!” Bolton Council’s Cabinet Member for Community Services, Councillor Akhtar, said: “The annual panto at The Albert Halls is the highlight of our entertainment calendar in Bolton and Stu Francis is everyone’s favourite funny man, so we are delighted to welcome him back again this year. “To attract the likes of Charlie Cairoli Jnr and Ben-Ryan Davies is an amazing coup for the theatre and we’re sure their performances will complement what is already a very slick production, featuring some great local talent. “We’re very excited about Jack and the Beanstalk and hope to attract audiences from far and wide. I would advise people to book early to avoid disappointment.” Tickets go on sale on February 11, visit www.alberthalls-bolton.co.uk or telephone the box office on 01204 334400.
