Girl sexually assaulted on bus in Stretford

Police are investigating a sexual assault on a bus in Stretford.

Shortly after 9pm on Saturday 6 May 2017 the victim, a 16-year-girl, got on the 256 bus at 9pm on Chester Road, heading towards Manchester city centre, and a man got up from his seat and sat next to her.

He started to tell her he loved her and sexually assaulted her, and refused to let her off the bus when it reached her stop.

The girl managed to get off the bus and the man stayed on the bus towards the city centre.

Police are investigating and have released a CCTV image of a man they want to speak to in connection with the sexual assault.

Police Constable Lindsay Williams of GMP’s Trafford Borough said: “People will be understandably concerned and I assure you that we have dedicated detectives working to catch the offender.

“Everyone has the right to go about their daily lives without fear of being sexually assaulted and we will respond to any reports of sexual assaults as a priority and you will be taken seriously and offered support.

“If you recognise the man in the photo please get in touch with police, as any information you have may be of great help.”
