Police appeal after woman shot in Stockport

A woman is in a serious condition after being shot in Stockport.
Shortly before 2.20am on Tuesday 31 January 2017, police were called to a hotel on Dialstone Lane to reports that a woman had been shot.

Officers attended and discovered a 46-year-old woman with serious abdominal injuries.

She was taken to hospital where she remains in a serious condition.

Detectives have launched an investigation and are now appealing for information.

Superintendent Wayne Miller, for GMP’s Stockport borough, said: “This is a serious incident which has left a woman with some potentially life changing injuries.

“We are at the very early stages of our investigation and we have a dedicated team of officers working to establish the circumstances surrounding this incident and we have increased patrols in the area.

“We are currently following a number of lines of enquiry and I would urge anyone who may have been staying at the hotel or was in the area at the time to contact us.

“Anything that you know, no matter how insignificant it seems, may prove to be vital.”
