Woman Raped in Cheadle graveyard

Police are appealing after a woman was raped in Cheadle.

Shortly before 1.40am today, Monday 23 January 2017, police were called to reports that a 32-year-old woman had been raped in a graveyard on High Street in Cheadle sometime between 12.10am and 12.25am.

Detective Inspector Julia Bowden, of GMP’s Stockport Borough, said:

“My thoughts are with the victim. She is being supported by our specially trained officers and is helping us with our investigation.

“Although in its early stages, a dedicated team are investigating this incident and are doing all that they can to find out what happened and find the person responsible.

“Understandably the community will be very concerned, but I would like to assure the public that we are taking this very seriously and our officers will be patrolling the area as our investigation continues.

“Anyone with any questions, concerns or information is encouraged to come and talk to us.”
