The start of the new decade marks a bold new era for the North West with more funding and powers for local communities to shape their own futures, Northern Powerhouse Minister Rt Hon Jake Berry MP has said.
Minister Berry pledged 2020 will be the year of the Northern Powerhouse as he toured Greater Manchester and Lancashire on his first official visit to the North West since the election.
He saw how £2.25 million of Growth Deal funding from the Government will help transform Bury College into a centre of excellence for Health and STEM education, giving young people across Greater Manchester the skills they need to secure good jobs in the growing Health Tech sector.
He also met officials at Burnley FC to discuss the Premier League football club’s work to support communities in the town and saw how high streets in Heywood and Middleton are adapting to changing retail trends.
Northern Powerhouse Minister, Rt Hon Jake Berry MP, said:
“This is set to be the year of the Northern Powerhouse and the beginning of a new era of prosperity for people across the North West.
“This new Government, under Prime Minister Boris Johnson’s leadership, will build on our record investment and devolution to create an even stronger North.”
