Preston Shoppers In Line For £28,000 Platinum Jubilee Spending Spree

The Queen’s Platinum Jubilee celebrations are around the corner and preparations are being stepped up across the UK to mark this historic event.

Whether it is street parties or barbecues, there is a long weekend to look forward to at the beginning of June, which is set to whip the country into a frenzy, and there will be an overwhelming feeling of jingoism.

Cities and towns across the UK want to get involved. In Preston, shoppers will need not too much encouragement to splash the cash in what has been dubbed the ‘Jubilee Spending Spree’. As a way of ‘thank you’, Preston businesses want to repay the loyalty shown by consumers and they could grab a share of £28,000 to spend on whatever they want.

Shops will accept what is known as a Preston Gift Card that will cover products or services that have been paid for, and this will be up to the value of £70.

This will include food, drinks, clothes, beauty products, and much more. There will be ‘special agents’ designated at points in and around businesses on the high street between June 2 and June 5.

Discussing the idea, John Boydell, Chair of Preston BID (Preston Business Improvement District), said: “Over the last two years, businesses have continually worked hard, under challenging circumstances, to ensure that the city is a safe place to visit and enjoy.

“We wanted to do something during this special weekend that not only rewards the loyalty of local people, but gives businesses a little boost too.

“The Jubilee Spending Spree is a great way to encourage visitors – it helps keep spending local, and it puts a little back in the tills of hard-working businesses.”

Across many industries in Manchester, customer loyalty schemes are springing up. For example, with gyms, if you are a fully-fledged David Llloyd member and manage to attain Diamond status, then you will be able to use all the facilities as you please. You can also take advantage of a 10% discount in the bar and restaurant as well as have access to all clubs in the UK.

Or, if you are a frequent visitor to Manchester and like to stay at the Marriott, then you can benefit from reduced hotel rates, as well as book a room with the cash and points that you have accrued. You can also redeem points gained for meals, cocktails, and spa experiences.

The style of customer loyalty schemes has also been evident at online casinos over the past few years. Whether you are a new or existing player at a reputable casino, you can tap into some of the best casino bonuses. This could be in the form of a matched deposit or free spins to use on a leading slot game if you are a newbie, or if you are a high roller, then the VIP programmes might be more enticing as you can win big cash prizes.

So, with the Platinum Jubilee, what Preston has demonstrated, is that small acts of kindness go a long way and they resonate with customers.
