Five great Manchester venues for a date night
Everyone loves going out on a date, whether it is youngsters taking those tentative first steps in a relationship or perhaps a married couple enjoying some time together while the babysitter takes the strain back at home. In either case, the big question is where?
Sure, Manchester has hundreds of great restaurants to choose from, and you could always go with tradition and catch a movie at the Odeon or Vue. But neither option ranks high on the imaginative scale. Here are some nights out with a difference to wow your date.
Place your bets at Manchester 235
For a mixture of fun and sophistication, you just can’t beat a casino night. It’s a great way to channel your inner James Bond. The proliferation of online casino sites gives us plenty of chance to practice the different games so we can stroll up to the blackjack table or roulette wheel with the air of someone who knows what they are doing. Manchester has a choice of popular casinos in the City Centre, including Gentings and The Grosvenor. However, it is the Manchester 235 complex that consistently gets the rave reviews, thanks to the wide range of gaming, dining and entertainment options offered under one roof.
A round of golf at the Junkyard
Golf would not ordinarily spring to mind for a night out, but Junkyard is no ordinary golf course. This indoor entertainment centre has three different nine-hole courses, each more crazy than the last. There are also two lively bars offering a range of cocktails and some light snacks. Junkyard is located on First Street, not far from Deansgate Station. While walk-ins are welcome on a first come first served basis, it is safest to book via their website, particularly on a Friday or Saturday night.
Escape together at Breakout
Escape rooms are becoming hugely popular up and down the country, and not just for larger groups. Couples are welcome to take on the challenges together at Breakout Manchester, and new experiences are constantly being added. Given that you have a one-hour time limit to make your escape, this is a great way to kick off an evening before going on somewhere else together.
Some live music at Ruby Lounge
Some drinks, some chat and some great live music, all in chilled but sophisticated surroundings. Ruby Lounge has something for everyone, and attracts some of the top bands and DJs on the Manchester music scene. You’ll find it tucked away in plain view on the High Street, right opposite the Arndale Centre. In fact, it is only a two minute walk from Breakout, so the two could make the perfect combination for a City Centre date night.
Visit the top of the world at Cloud 23
The Manchester skyline is a sight to behold these days, and there’s no better way to see it than from this exclusive cocktail bar. It’s situated way up on the 23rd floor of the Beetham Tower at the Hilton Hotel on Deansgate. A house cocktail or glass of champagne, and the whole city laid out before you. What could be more romantic?
